Like Dust in the Wind, dude

I just sent in my information for my 10-year high school reunion. And honestly, I don't know how I feel about that. Has it really been 10 years since I graduated from high school? Has it really been almost 10 years since I pushed out into the great big world? (Yeah, ok, so College Station, Texas doesn't really count as the "great big world," but I did actually move out my parents' house and the state, so that has to count for something)

I guess the thought of my high school reunion is making me take stock of my life. Where I have been, where I am, where I am going. I spent 18 years in Baton Rouge, and for the most part they were good. Sure, middle school sucked ass, but I honestly believe that middle school sucked ass for practically everyone and it would be better for everyone concerned if they just did away with middle school and everyone stayed home from the end of elementary school until the start of high school. But that's just me.

High school was better than middle school, you know, once I got self-esteem. And a spine. And boobs. Yes, I think getting boobs definitely improved my social life, and by extension, high school in general. Puberty was very kind.

And then off to Texas A&M. Those were three rocking years. I had such a blast in undergrad. Sure, that was when I dated possibly-gay-but-really-cute-boy for way too long, but it was also where I met (and married) future hubby, got my first pup, and met lots of really cool people.

And then, unfortunately, the black hole, the amazing abyss that was grad school. Ugh. Except for some really awesome friends I made in grad school, I would just as soon overdose on the brain bleach and forget it ever happened.

Which brings me to the present. 27-years-old. Married with two dogs. Almost a licensed psychologist (yes, really!). And contemplating my 10-year high school reunion. Where did the time go? (and why didn't it go faster during grad school?)
