All I Want for Christmas...

spingirl | 14 November, 2006 15:47

I found this way too bizarre. According to an MSNBC article, Toys for Tots turned down a donation of 4,000 "Bible-quoting Jesus dolls."

No, I'm not kidding. Someone actually manufactures Bible-quoting Jesus dolls.

Not exactly what I think of when I think of "must-have item for Christmas." But maybe that's just me.

The director of the aforementioned Jesus doll manufacturer, Michael La Roe, is quoted as saying, “'I believe as a churchgoing person, anyone can benefit from hearing the words of the Bible.' ”

Yeah, but does a kid really want to hear that when he or she opens up his/her long-awaited Christmas gift? I mean, Timmy down the street got a brand new Nintendo. How can Bible-quoting Jesus really compare? Does this guy La Roe really think that Jesus or the Bible has anything to do with Christmas?

Ok, I kid. But seriously, if I were a little kid and I got a Bible-quoting Jesus doll for Christmas, I would be seriously upset. I mean, at least you can have fun lighting a lump of coal on fire. But with a Jesus doll? You can't even can raise your toy street cred from the dead with that one.
